Senator Dan Seum sounds off on report that former Ky. governor Julian Carroll propositioned man

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky lawmakers are expressing shock, outrage and sorrow after a report surfaced that State Senator and former Governor Julian Carroll groped and propositioned a man for sex back in 2005.

The report came from the Spectrum cable program Pure Politics on Saturday.

Kentucky State Police investigated at the time of the alleged incident, but no charges were ever filed.

Senate Democrats have removed Carroll from his leadership post, and called on him to resign.

Republican Senator Dan Seum has known Carroll for decades.

"I only know what I've seen in the news at this point in time," Seum said on Monday. "I've not talked to Senator Carroll or any members of his party. In a way, it's a shame if this is developing because he was our governor at one time point in time, and I would hate to see him end his career with this issue on his back."

In the report, Carroll denied the allegations, but has had no comment since then.
