LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Authorities have identified a man who was shot to death in the Shawnee neighborhood on Sunday.

That man has been identified as 18-year-old Sidney D. Smith.

MetroSafe dispatchers told WDRB the initial report came in as one person shot just before 5 p.m. on Sunday, in the 3600 block of Vermont Avenue, off West Muhammad Ali Boulevard, near Young Elementary School.

Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said officers first responded to the scene on a report of a man down, but found someone shot inside a home.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors told our crew at the scene they did not hear gunshots, but the coroner's office lists a gunshot wound as his official cause of death.

No arrests have been made and police have no suspects in the case at this time. If you have any information, call the anonymous police tip line at 574-LMPD.
