Purdue University summer camp for kids closes after allegations of violence, sex assault and child porn

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A summer camp for kids has closed after allegations surfaced involving charges of violence, sexual assault and distribution of child porn.

Children at the Purdue University camp, ages 11-15, are accused of the charges. Records show police responded to reports of threats, fondling, battery, as well as attempted rape and confinement at Camp Dash.

The logs say both the suspects and the victims were campers. The records also show it is was reported that someone distributed child porn in a restroom.

"It's kind of shocking, because the age group that they're in, you wouldn't really expect some behavior like that," said Karen Zomara, a Purdue University student.

A Purdue spokesperson says police and Child Protective Services are investigating. 

Camp Dash, which was ended early because of the accusations, focused on conducting research on children with high blood pressure.
