LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's estimated that 25 percent of all crashes on the road are due to people using their smartphones.

And on Wednesday night, local Allstate Insurance Agents used Waterfront Wednesday to reach drivers. Those in attendance were asked to sign the "X the TXT" pledge, promising not to text and drive.

"Texting takes your eyes off the road for about five seconds, and if you're driving 55 mph, that is like driving the length of a football field blind," said Sarah Powell with Allstate.

There are just two more Waterfront Wednesday dates for the 2017 season: Aug. 20 and Sept. 27.
