UPS employees pack bus with school supplies for students
Boxes were filled with everything from paper and crayons to backpacks.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- UPS Worldport employees spent Friday helping pack a school bus with school supplies for students in need.
Boxes were filled with everything from paper and crayons to backpacks. The supplies will be distributed at a family-friendly event called Unity Jam next month.
"It's important for us to give back to the community we work in," said Laronda Lowery, a UPS supervisor. "UPS is one of the largest employers in the state of Kentucky, so it's important that we do give back and support our communities."
Unity Jam happens on Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Darrell Griffith Athletic Center on Virginia Avenue. In addition to the school supply giveaway, the event includes free food, music, games and health screenings.
