Jeffersontown Police hold annual bicycle safety course and car seat check

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jeffersontown Police officers spent their Saturday morning and afternoon making sure young people stay safe while traveling.

The department held their annual bicycle safety course, where they also did bike inspections and handed out free helmets.

The event also doubled as a car seat checkup. Certified technicians were on hand to show parents how to properly install their child's car seat.

"Even though a lot of parents like to put the seat in the center of the back seat because that's what people say is the safest. Not all cars allow you to do that. So just check your manual and your car seat manual as well to make sure you're following the right regulations for the height and weight requirements," Officer Sarah King said.

If you missed the event or have questions about your child's bike or car seat, you can call or stop by the Jeffersontown Police Department.
