LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- If the highways seemed a little louder Sunday, it's because thousands of bikers took to the roads to support our troops.

Across the country, more than 8,000 motorcycle riders participated in the annual ride to benefit Homes for our Troops.

In Louisville, nearly 300 bikers gathered at the Texas Roadhouse on Outer Loop and rode to the Texas Roadhouse in Shively.

The ride helps raise money to build homes for soldiers, especially for those who now have special needs.

"Supporting our veterans is one of the things that you're going to find motorcyclists jump for every time. A lot of them are veterans and those that aren't usually have a heart for veterans," Steve Earnspiker said.

This is the 14th year for the ride, but the third time it's happened in Louisville.
