Legislative aide to embattled Councilman Dan Johnson out of a job

Posted: Updated:

Louisville, Ky. (WDRB) – On the day that Metro Councilman Dan Johnson faces an ultimatum to resign his seat, one of his key assistants is out.

Johnson’s office confirms Legislative Aide Bryan Matthews is no longer with the office. Ray Manley, who answered Johnson’s office phone and identified himself as a “staff helper” would not say whether Matthews had been fired, calling it a “personnel matter.”

On July 13, Metro Council Democrats expelled Johnson from their caucus, and gave him an August 1 deadline to resign his seat or face possible removal.

Johnson is accused of inappropriately touching the backside of Metro Council member Jessica Green and exposing his backside to an aide to Metro Council member Angela Leet.

Johnson has denied any intentional wrongdoing, and previously said he will not resign.
