LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- U of L grad Mangok Mathiang has signed an NBA contract with the Charlotte Hornets.
It is one of the two-way contracts teams are allowed to use, meaning Mathiang will spend most of his season with the team's G-League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm. The deal means Mathiang is part of the Hornets organization and cannot be signed by any other team. He also cannot spend more than 45 days with the NBA team. The deals don't count against the team's salary cap.
The 24-year-old Mathiang went undrafted but played in five games with Charlotte during the Orlando Pro Summer league, averaging 4 points and 5 rebounds a game. Former North Carolina point guard Marcus Paige also signed a two-way contract with the Hornets.
