6-year-old hit and killed by car in Shively identified

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 6-year-old boy who died after being hit by a car while riding his bike has been identified. 

He has been identified as Malik Thomas by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. 

The accident happened Thursday in the 2400 block of Farnsley Road near Riedley Road in Shively. 

Police said Thomas was riding his bike in the street when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver of that vehicle stopped and remained on the scene. 

Thomas was transported to Norton Children's Hospital by Metro EMS with severe injuries, where he later died. 

No charges are expected at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
