LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville group is trying a new way of helping those battling addictions by taking the recovery efforts straight to the streets.

The group is called the Love Transformation Project.

The founder says this project goes beyond the drug epidemic taking over Louisville.

They will be meeting Thursday night, Aug. 10, under the bridge at First and College Streets.

Over the next five years, organizers hope to start outreach centers in critical areas throughout the city.

"They trying to help you. They trying to get us into some programs and get away from here. Because this is an addictive lifestyle. Once you're homeless and you ain't got to do nothing, you do nothing," said James, who has been homeless for seven years.

If you have experience with any recovery programs or counseling and want to help volunteer, you can visit the Love Transformation Project Facebook page.
