JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- It was a homecoming of sorts for a longtime Jeffersonville firetruck.

Saturday, the 1953 Seagrave Pumper returned to its original home in Jeffersonville.

It was in commission for 40 years before being auctioned off, but it was recently purchased by a board member of the Vintage Fire Museum where it will now be permanently displayed.

"The truck is now back in Jeffersonville, and here at the museum, and we are very, very pleased. Today we wanted to celebrate that. It's kind of a celebration for Jeffersonville and a celebration for firefighters," Curtis Peters, museum chairperson, said.

All past and present firefighters and their families got into the Vintage Fire Museum for free Saturday to celebrate the truck's return.
