LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say a woman who stole a purse was quickly discovered after she accidentally photo-bombed a group picture the victim was posing for.

According to an arrest warrant, the faux pas took place on Saturday, Aug. 5, at the intersection of S. 4th Street and W. Muhammad Ali Boulevard in downtown Louisville.

Police say the victim and her friends were visiting from out of town, when they decided to get together and pose for a group picture. As the out-of-towners positioned themselves for the pose, police say the victim laid her purse down near a lamp post.

That's when police say 40-year-old Tobey Ann Puckett grabbed the purse, which contained $200 at the time.

Fortunately for investigators, police say the group picture was taken at that precise moment, and Puckett can be seen in the image taking the purse.

"The person taking the photograph actually caught [Puckett] taking the victim's purse," the arrest warrant states.

Police say Puckett was well known to the officers in the area, and they were able to recognize her from the photo.

A warrant was issued for Puckett's arrest on Monday, Aug. 7, and she was taken into custody just after 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Puckett is charged with theft by unlawful taking and is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.
