Indiana animal shelter waives adoption fees for black cats on the day of the total solar eclipse

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The New Albany Floyd County Animal Shelter will waive adoption fees for black cats on Aug. 21, the day of the total solar eclipse.

"August 21st, 2017, will be a unique day," a news release from the shelter states. "There will be a total eclipse of the cat at the New Albany Floyd County Animal Shelter. Walk into the shelter, no glasses required, and watch as your heart aligns with those black cats seeking a home."

The shelter says that, across America, black cats stay in shelters longer than cats of any other color.

No adoption fee will be charged, according to the news release. The shelter says that all cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped, Felv/FIV tested negative and are currently on vaccinations. Adoption hours are from noon to 4 p.m. and there will be a limit of one cat per household.
