2 people dead after crash in Nelson County

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police say two people are dead after a crash that happened in Nelson County.

According to a new release, the crash happened Friday on New Shepherdsville Road. Police received a call about the crash from the Nelson County Dispatch just before 5:30 p.m.

Officials say a 2000 Ford F150 pickup truck was going west on New Shepherdsville Road. According to police, a Hyundai Elantra and 1995 Ford Mustang were traveling east on New Shepherdsville Road.

Investigators say for unknown reasons, the Ford pickup truck crossed into the eastbound lanes of New Shepherdsville Road, hitting the rear of the Hyundai and then crashing into the Ford Mustang head on.

Police say the driver of the Ford Mustang, 25-year-old Amber Tingle, and a passenger, 30-year-old Billie Watts, were removed from the vehicle and taken to U of L Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation.
