Woman charged with attempted murder in overnight shooting
Authorities said the victim and the suspect live in Louisville, but do not live in the area where the shooting happened.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman is charged with attempted murder after an overnight shooting.
According to LMPD Spokesperson Alicia Smiley, officers responded to a reported shooting just before 1 a.m. Saturday in the 2400 block of McKindree Court.
A man in his 20s was located at the scene with a single gunshot wound to the head, and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Police arrested the suspect, 22-year-old Mykeya Pruitt, at the scene and charged her with assault, tampering with physical evidence and disorderly conduct.
According to Pruitt's citation, she admitted to shooting the victim and witnesses on the scene identified her as the suspect who shot the victim.
Pruitt's charges were upgraded later Saturday to attempted murder and LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating, because of the severity of the victim's injuries.
Doctors do not expect the victim to survive.
