LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new restaurant specializing in meals made from scratch opened in east Louisville Wednesday.
Top Round Roast Beef hosted its grand opening on Aug. 16. A group of chefs started the fast-food chain in Los Angeles with the goal of proving that food can be served up fast without sacrificing quality.
The Louisville restaurant Shelbyville Road near Hubbards Lane in St. Matthews is the first Top Round to open outside of LA. It will be dishing up roast beef and chicken sandwiches, but is also known for its custard.
The owners say everything is made to order with all-natural ingredients, from the hand-cut fries to slow roasted beef sandwiches.
Franchisee Billy Rapaport says the "food is something like you've never tasted before -- all chef-driven all hand-carved food. The only thing frozen is our custard, everything else is made from scratch."
Rapaport says there are plans to open four more Top Rounds in the Louisville area.
