LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- All lanes of I-71 North have reopened after a fatal crash.

It happened just before 8 p.m. Saturday on I-71 North at I-264.

LMPD Spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said a black Corvette was traveling north on I-71 at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, striking a guardrail. The driver, a male, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the hospital. 

A female passenger was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating.

The interstate was closed for several hours during the investigation.
