LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- For the first time ever, the Wounded Warrior Project Soldier Ride came to Louisville.

The Soldier Ride is a multi-day bicycling event for wounded veterans.

Saturday's ride was 16 miles long, and ended at the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory.

The course is designed to challenge veterans physically and mentally, as they work through the visible, and invisible, wounds from war.

Organizers said every participant has some type of injury.

"We bring a trailer full of bikes that we adapt specifically to each warrior and their injury. It doesn't matter if their injury is an amputation or it might be something more mental or emotional. It's for the whole board of injuries," Kristen Henry said.

The ride is also meant to connect soldiers with other wounded warriors who may be dealing with similar issues.
