LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A MetroSafe supervisor tells WDRB LMPD officers responded after a 6-year-old girl was shot in the hand.

Authorities say it happened Monday around 12:45 p.m. in the 1700 block of Patton Court in the Park Hill Housing Complex, near South 13th Street in the Algonquin neighborhood.

The child was taken to Norton Children's Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Police say it appears the shooting appears to have been accidental and self-inflicted.

The LMPD Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incident.

There's no word yet on if anyone will face charges.
