Second-largest Powerball jackpot ever on the line Wednesday night

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The second-largest Powerball jackpot ever, $700 million, is on the line Wednesday night.

The biggest, a $1.6 billion pot in January of 2016, was split between three winners.

The odds are long to say the least: one in 292,000,000. And the rush for tickets hasn't even begun.

"The response is strong, and it's really going to peak about 6 o'clock tonight," said Tom Delacenserie, President of the Kentucky Lottery. "We've already had 18 top prize winners in Kentucky. We'd like to make that 19."

The $700 million prize is what you'd get if you took the over time payment option. The straight cash payout would yield $443 million.

But what you do with all that money? Several people flooded our Facebook page with their ideas:

  • Charles said his first move would be to hire a tax accountant and a lawyer.
  • Madonna said she's use the money for sentimental reasons. She'd buy her grandparents' house so it would always be in the family.
  • Michael said he'd use the money to help others. He wants to buy an abandoned hospital and turn it into a not-for-profit drug rehabilitation center.
  • Kenneth said he's not donating a dime to anyone. He said he'd forget everyone he's ever met except for his family and build his dream home.
