Bourbon drinkers can soon add another stop to the bourbon trail.

Construction crews have been working for more than a year on Lux Row Distillery in Bardstown, and they're preparing to start tours and distilling in just months.

“We actually broke ground on the site last May,” said distillery operations manager Tony Kamer.

Lux Row was started by family owned company Lux Co. from St. Louis. It’s known for Rebel Yell, Ezra Brooks, David Nicholson and Blood Oath bourbons.

“This is the first distillery that they've built,” Kamer said.

The distillery is named after the quiet country road leading up to it.

“As you come up the drive, you see the row of trees, and that’s where they got the most inspiration to go with Lux Row,” Kamer said.

The visitor’s center, tasting room and distillery are located in one brand new building. An old farm house sits just a short distance away on the 90-acre property off of Route 245.

“We would be a medium distillery,” Kamer said. “So on start-up, this still will be able to do about a million proof gallons a year, which equates to approximately 18,000 to 20,000 barrels.” Kamer said.

The distillery will start making bourbon this winter. It will open to the public in the spring.
