Victim identified after fatal early morning shooting on Poplar View Drive near Cane Run Road
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call police at 574-LMPD.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 52-year-old man is dead after an early morning shooting.
Police said officers responded to Poplar View Drive near Cane Run Road around 2:15 a.m. Sunday.
When they arrived, officers found a man who had been shot to death. He has been identified as 52-year-old William Reichle.
"I’m shocked, nervous, concerned about the area that’s around ... The Marathon, [there] is a lot of drama over that way," said Charlet Woods, who lives across the street from where Reichle's body was found. "It's very, very close. It's alarming and it's disturbing, and my kids walk to that Marathon sometimes, so they won't be walking anymore."
Officers say a Marathon gas station was also part of the shooting scene, but authorities have not advised on exactly what happened there.
"As I've said many times this year, this is another senseless murder that has happened here and it's a tragic day for our city again," said LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell.
WDRB spoke to several residents of the Boxwood Neighborhood, many of whom have lived in the area for decades and have never seen an incident like this.
"My daughter, I think she got home about a half hour before it happened. So it’s scary. It could have been my kid, you know?" Melissa Sutton said.
There are no suspects in this case. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call police at 574-LMPD.
