LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man has been arrested after authorities say he admitted to engaging in a sex act with a 14-year-old girl he communicated with online.

According to an arrest report, deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office were sent to a parking lot near the intersection of Tamworth Lane and Burlington Lane, at 12:30 a.m. on Monday, after someone reported suspicious activity taking place there.

When the deputies arrived, they allegedly found a vehicle in the parking lot. According to the arrest report, a female was getting into the front passenger seat, and a male was in the back seat with no shirt.

Deputies say the male was eventually identified as 22-year-old Patrick Jones Jr.

It was determined that the female was a 14-year-old girl, according to the arrest report.

Jones allegedly told police that he and the girl had been communicating through social media, and that they agreed to meet for sex. Authorities say Jones admitted to engaging in a sex act with the girl before the deputies arrived -- and said he knew at the time that she was underage.

Jones was arrested and charged with third-degree sodomy, engaging in an unlawful transaction with a minor and engaging in the prohibited use of an electronic communications system to procure a minor or peace officer for sexual offenses.

He is currently being held in the Franklin County Detention Center.
