LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was fatally shot in the Russell neighborhood Monday afternoon. 

LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell says it happened around 3:30 p.m. at the 26th and Eddy, not far from West Muhammad Ali Boulevard.  Mitchell says officers responded after the city's ShotSpotter system alerted police to gunfire.

Mitchell says the victim, a man in his late 20s, was found in an alley. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call the LMPD crime tipline at 574-LMPD. All calls are anonymous.
