LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police says it needs more troopers.

There are currently 840 sworn officers, which is about 160 short of what's considered fully-staffed.

The other problem the agency is facing is old cars. State police officials say the force needs 260 cars within 12 to 18 months.

Then it needs about 180 new cars every year to retire the aging fleet.
