Assumption High School builds sculptures from cans for Dare to Care

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Assumption High School has been building sculptures with cans -- but it's all for a good cause.

Every year, students collect thousands of canned goods to donate to Dare to Care. Before they deliver them, students create three-dimensional sculptures out of the cans.

It's a way to share art and inspiration, along with food for those in need at a critical time of year.

"This is a fun experience and a great opportunity for the girls to find new ways to give back and get creative with their service," said Carly Crawford, a junior at the school.

The school collected roughly 11,430 cans this year -- a record since the school started collecting 11 years ago.
