Papa John's apologizes for Schnatter's comments blaming NFL protests for declining pizza sales

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Papa John's apologized for statements made earlier this month by CEO John Schnatter in regards to the NFL protests.

In a series of tweets, the company said they believe in the right to protest inequality and support the players' movement to create change. The tweet goes on to say that Americans should honor the anthem and that there is a way to do both.

In a third tweet, the company says, quote, "We will work with the players and league to find a positive way forward. Open to ideas from all. Except neo-nazis - expletive those guys."

That last sentence is in reference to a supremacist website saying the company is the official pizza of the alt-right after Schnatter made his comments.
