CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- It was an unexpected surprise for a local teen battling health issues.

Saturday, 14-year-old Caleb Smiley had a small parade thrown in his honor at the Walmart in Clarksville, Indiana.

He also became an honorary Walmart truck driver for the day.

It was all done to raise Caleb's spirits, ahead of his kidney transplant next month.

His parents said it was nice to seem him happy, and not in a hospital bed.

"I want him to just be a normal 14-year-old, you know?" Keisha Smiley said. "And no worries ... This has been amazing for not only me, I'm sure for him, but the entire family."

Through the Walmart Hearts Program, truck drivers bring smiles to those who have medical conditions.

Saturday's event also raised awareness for organ donation.
