Parole denied for priest convicted of abusing boys in the 1970s
Father Joseph Hemmerle was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2016.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville priest in prison for sexually abusing a 10-year-old boy at summer camp in the 1970's is being denied parole.
Father Joseph Hemmerle was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2016 but asked a parole board this week to be released early.
But Kentucky Department of Corrections spokesperson Lisa Lamb said on Thursday that a parole board denied his request to get out in February, and Hemmerle will have to wait two years before asking again.
Hemmerle was also sentenced to two years in prison for abusing a second victim.
