LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Newborns at Baptist Health Louisville are getting into the holiday spirit, thanks to the help of volunteers.

Sporting their fanciest red and white attire, the newborns were wrapped in their very own Christmas stockings on Sunday.

All babies born around the holiday are placed in stockings, for everyone in the nursery to see.

It's a 26-year tradition, started by the hospital's volunteer department.

"It's just a nice little touch for these families at Christmas time who may be away from family members or other children," Leann Baker, nurse practitioner, said. "So we are able to present them with their babies tucked in these stockings and give just a little extra personal touch at the holidays."

Nurses and volunteers also made hats for the newborn babies.

The stockings are purchased with funds raised from gift shop sales and other fundraisers.
