LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A suspect is facing charges after stealing an ambulance from a southern Indiana hospital.

Jeffersonville Police Sergeant Isaac Parker says 28-year-old Joseph Prest allegedly took the ambulance from Clark Memorial Hospital some time on Christmas Day.

The stolen ambulance was spotted by an off-duty Jefferonsville Police officer in Sellersburg.  He alerted dispatch and a couple of agencies including the Clark County Sheriff and the Washington County Sheriff helped in a short pursuit of the ambulance.

The pursuit went into Washington County and finally ended near Voyles Road.

Sergeant Parker says stop sticks were deployed, but Prest stopped the ambulance before hit them. So there was no damage to the ambulance.

Prest is charged with criminal recklessness, auto theft and resisting law enforcement.  He's being held in the Clark County Jail.
