Fire destroys Bullitt County home
Battalion chief says working smoke detectors alerted three people to get out of the burning home.
BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) -- Three people escaped, unhurt, from their burning home in Bullitt County early Saturday morning.
Flames destroyed the home on Big Country Road East, said Southeast Bullitt Fire Dept. battalion chief Tom Leach.
Working smoke detectors awakened the people in the home, Leach said.
Firefighters from Southeast Bullitt, Shepherdsville and Zoneton found their response slowed because of slippery roads. They were tending to "hot spots" as of 6:40 a.m. Saturday, Leach said.
Video from the Shepherdsville Fire Department Facebook page shows flames engulfed the home, nestled in a grove of trees in the Lickskillet Farms subdivision.
The home appears a total loss. There is no word yet on what started the fire, Leach said.
