LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police are investigating after a man was shot in the head and died in Fairdale.

LMPD said it happened just before 12:30 p.m. in the 8000 block of Glimmer Way off New Cut Road and Candlelight Lane, which is just south of Iroquois Park.

The victim, a man believed to be between 18 and 25 years old, died at the scene, according to LMPD Spokesperson John Bradley.

LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting.

The man was found shot several times at the Overlook Terrace Apartments.

LMPD is not yet releasing whether the shooting happened inside or outside an apartment.

Officers are asking for help to find the person who pulled the trigger.

“We’ve asked for the community’s help. We need the community’s help to get information so that we can solve these crimes,” Bradley said.

A man living at the apartment complex who did not want to provide his name said he heard the gunshots and could not believe violence hit so close to home.

“It’s very concerning. I have kids. There’s a lot of kids up there. This happened in broad daylight. It’s definitely a concern,” the man said.
