NEW YORK (AP) - Trevon Bluiett of Xavier, Jalen Brunson of Villanova and Kelan Martin of Butler have been unanimously selected to the Big East Conference first team.

The league announced the honors Sunday, three days before the start of the conference tournament at Madison Square Garden. The league's head coaches choose the teams and are not permitted to vote for their own players.

Bluiett is the 13th player in Big East history to earn first-team honors three times. Brunson is a two-time first-team selection. Martin has been an all-conference second-team pick the past two years.

Joining them on the first team are Marcus Foster of Creighton, Shamorie Ponds of St. John's and Mikal Bridges of Villanova.

The conference will announce its player, coach and freshman of the year Wednesday. The defensive player of the year, most improved player, sixth man award and sportsmanship award will be announced Monday.

Bluiett averaged 19.4 points in leading Xavier to its first league title. Brunson averaged 19 points and 4.8 assists in guiding Villanova to a 27-4 record. Martin led the league in scoring with a 23.6 average.

Foster earned first-team honors for a second straight season, averaging 20.3 points. Ponds, the freshman of the year last season, averaged 21.6 points and 2.5 steals. Bridges averaged 17.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.6 steals.

Angel Delgado and Desi Rodriguez of Seton Hall, Khyri Thomas of Creighton, Marcus Derrickson of Georgetown and Markus Howard of Marquette were named to the second team.
