Day-long police standoff in south Louisville ends with man in custody
A man barricaded himself in a house near Iroquois High School Thursday afternoon, putting the school on heightened alert.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A standoff is over after a burglary suspect barricaded himself in a home in south Louisville for hours on Thursday.
LMPD spokesman Officer Lamont Washington said officers tried to serve a warrant at the home on Arling Avenue off Taylor Boulevard about 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, but the man, identified later as Larry Sharpe, refused to come out of the home.
After several hours, police were able to take Sharpe into custody around 4:30 p.m.
LMPD said Sharpe is a suspect in a string of burglaries along Dixie Highway. He is charged with six counts of third-degree burglary and tampering with physical evidence.
A second suspect, pictured here, is still at large.
