LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Businesses in southwest Louisville are doing their part in trying to fight back against the opioid crisis.

The Dixie Area Business Association hosted a community forum Tuesday night on drugs at Holy Cross High School. The goal was to show community members the resources that are available to help them.

The event included Narcan training for drug overdoses and a place where the community could throw out their old medications.

"We have so many overdoses and overdose deaths in our community," said Metro Councilwoman Marianne Butler. "And there a lot of families that are just really struggling ... They don't know where to turn."

It's hoped another event like Tuesday's will be held sometime this fall.
