LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- U of L bunched all of its eight runs in the middle innings with two in the 4th, four in the 5th and two in the 6th in an 8-2 triumph over Kentucky Tuesday night at Jim Patterson Stadium. The Wildcats had beaten Louisville 8-5 two weeks ago in Lexington.
The 20th-ranked Cardinals (25-11) won their fifth game in a row and have now won 9 of the last 11 against number 6 Kentucky..
Jake Snider led the U of L offense, going 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and two runs scored. Devin Mann went 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and Logan Wyatt reached base four times in five plate appearances, all via base on balls. Josh Stowers and Danny Oriente each drove in two runs.
Freshman Reid Detmers got the win, allowing three hits and one run in four and two-third innings. Sam Bordner was the last of five U of L pitchers, getting the Wildcats in order in the ninth.
Louisville hosts a three-game series against Virginia, beginning Friday at 6:00 pm
Trey Dawson's lead-off homer in the third was one of just three hits for Kentucky (25-12). Luke Becker drove in the UK's only other run with a single in the 7th. The Cats begin a seven-game homestand when they host Florida Thursday at 7:00 pm.
