LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The next dog you see inside an LMPD patrol car may not be a drug-sniffing K-9 out to hunt criminals.

That's because the LMPD's 7th Division has partnered with Louisville Metro Animal Services to create "Paws on Patrol."

The program is designed to give shelter dogs a chance to get out of their kennels and on the streets.

According to a post on the LMPD Facebook page, the Paws on Patrol program allows the dogs to meet the public and become more social.

All of the dogs in the Paws on Patrol program are available for adoption from LMAS.
