POLICE: Louisville teen robbed victim at gunpoint

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested a teen authorities say robbed a victim at gunpoint.

Treyvon Newsom, 18, was arrested Tuesday. According to an arrest report. the crime happened on April 1, 2018, in the 400 block of East Brandeis Avenue, near South Preston Street.

Police say Newsom, armed with a handgun, went up to the victim as he was walking up stairs to an apartment.

Authorities say Newsom pointed a gun at the victim's head and ordered the person to give him their property. According to police, Newson took the victim's wallet, money and cell phone. Investigators say Newsom then got into a passenger seat in a white SUV, which then left the scene.

According to police, Newsom gave police a recorded statement where he admitted to the crime and also implicated an accomplice.

Newsom is charged with first-degree robbery.

He is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections.
