LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One man is dead after a crash that happened in Jennings County, Indiana.

According to Indiana State Police, the crash happened Friday morning in Scipio.

Authorities say officers with Indiana State Police and the Jennings County Sheriff's Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Road 7.

According to police, 24-year-old Justin Spears, of Scipio, died in the crash.

Officials say Spears was driving a white 2010 Kia SUV south on County Road 700 West at State Road 7. The SUV entered State Road 7 and went into the path of a northbound 2000 Mack dump truck.

Police say the dump truck's driver tried, but was unable to avoid Spear's vehicle. The dump truck crashed into the driver's side of the SUV.

Spears was pronounced dead at the scene. An 18-year-old female passenger inside the SUV was flown to St. Vincent's Hospital-Indianapolis to be treated for "serious injuries," according to police. The driver of the dump truck was not hurt in the crash.

Toxicology results are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
