LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Police are investigating after a shooting led to a police shooting on Bardstown Road at Bashford Manor Lane on Sunday.

Major Frank Hardison, with LMPD's Public Integrity Unit, said LMPD was notified of the incident around 4 p.m.

Preliminary investigation revealed two subjects in the area were involved in an altercation where shots were fired and one subject was hit, according to police.

Hardison said witnesses at the scene pointed out the other subject involved in that altercation to a West Buechel officer, who confronted the armed suspect with an off-duty Hurstbourne Acres officer.

Police said shots were fired during the confrontation and the suspect was hit.

Both the suspect and the person shot in the initial altercation are in critical condition at the hospital.

More information is expected to be released on Monday.
