LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Scottsburg, Indiana, man died after being thrown from his motorcycle Sunday.

Indiana State Police said in a news release the crash happened just after 6 p.m. just off US 31, just south of Scottsburg.

A Scott County Sheriff's Deputy was in his driveway preparing to work a shift when the motorcyclist, 25-year-old Dmytri Samuel Weddington, passed at a high rate of speed.

The deputy attempted to catch up with Weddington, but when he went into a curve just north of Edrington Road, he crossed the center line and hit the passenger side of a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Weddington was thrown from his motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep, 42-year-old David Cunningham, and his passenger, 41-year-old Kristine Cunningham, both from Scottsburg, were slightly injured and sent to the hospital to be checked. Both were wearing their seatbelts.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
