Bourbon ala mode -- Fountain on 4th Ice Cream Lounge to open this summer
A new lounge opening at 4th and Chestnut will serve alcoholic ice cream treats.
Bob Ehrler, the owner of Fountain on 4th, says the shop will use liquid nitrogen to freeze alcohol.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new Louisville business is mixing cocktails with dessert.
Fountain on 4th Ice Cream Lounge is coming to 4th and Chestnut Streets downtown this summer.
The business will be mixing in a shot of liquor with every scoop. Customers will have a choice of bourbon, beer or wine with their ice cream.
Owner Bob Ehrler says freezing alcohol is no easy task.
"It's really a challenge to freeze alcohol, so we're going to be using liquid nitrogen to actually freeze the alcohol and make the ice cream, so that way we can also have a super fresh product because when you place the order, that's when we make the ice cream," Ehrler said.
There will be non-alcoholic options for kids, too.
The shop will share a storefront with Cellar Door Chocolates. It's scheduled to open in early June.
