LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The decision that Hoosier (and Jayhawk and Commodore) fans have been waiting for will happen Monday. New Albany Senior Romeo Langford will announce his college decision at the High School from his three finalists (IU, KU and Vanderbilt). His father Tim told me Monday that the family will discuss the decision Saturday, but it is ultimately Romeo's call.
"We're enjoying it, embracing it," said Tim of the recruiting process. "We could be on the other side, not being in the spotlight so we're enjoying the road, because it's all about him."
Tim Langford has bee a calming influence in the process and throughout Romeo's life, teaching him at an early age not to show his emotions of get rattled on the court, turning away prep school offers, and encouraging him to stay after every game to sign autographs and take pictures with his adoring fans.
If he knows the winning school, Tim is not saying. And he sees Monday's announcement as a way to share the moment and celebrate with the people that have been so good to Romeo during his four years at New Albany, even if it ends up not being Indiana.
"If it's not IU and I don't know for sure if it's them or not," Tim Langford said. "If they are truly Romeo fans, the difference between being school fans not my son's fans. So when all is said and done, who's really for my son, who's a fan of him."
The announcement will be made Monday night at 7:00 pm at New Albany. It's open to the public.
