LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Some folks fought cancer with the help of lots of steak Thursday night.

That was the goal of the Champions Knock Out Cancer event held at Volare on Frankfort Avenue. It benefited the "Kids Cancer Alliance".

Several local celebrities like former U of L football and NFL players Eric Wood and Chris Redman and Ohio Valley Wrestling owner Al Snow took part in tonight's event.

They competed in an eating contest to see who could eat 96 ounces of steak.

"Well, I've never done anything like this before," said Redman. "I've been in a lot of different competitions. This is one that's a little different for me. I've got a lot of problems, but eating isn't one of them, so this should be fun."

Tonight's event was also hosted by boxing great Evander Holyfield.
