According to a news release, 29-year-old Shaun Matthew Carney was killed from blunt force injuries sustained in an accident involving a motorcycle and an automobile. LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has identified a man who died in a motorcycle crash that took place on Bardstown Road Thursday night.

According to a news release, 29-year-old Shaun Matthew Carney was killed from blunt force injuries sustained in an accident involving a motorcycle and an automobile.

According to Alicia Smiley, spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department, the crash took place shortly before 10 p.m. in the 11000 block of Bardstown Road, near the Oakland Hills subdivision.

Smiley said Carney was traveling northbound on Bardstown Road when he rear-ended a passenger vehicle that was in the process of turning. Police say Carney was wearing a helmet, but was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was injured.

The northbound lanes of Bardstown Road were closed as a result of the crash.
