LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Thousands of people flocked to the fairgrounds Friday night to see hot air balloons light up Louisville.

29 balloons lit up the night sky for the Great Balloon Glow.

Balloon pilots fired the burners in their balloons, creating the glow you can see synchronized to music.

Crowds of people enjoyed the show in perfect weather at one of the Kentucky Derby Festival's most popular balloon events.

"If you're not an early riser to see the balloon race, you can come out here in the evening with the kids, after dinner, and watch the glow," said Aimee Boyd, with the Kentucky Derby Festival. "Just kind of take it in and enjoy it. It's a neat Derby Festival tradition. We have a lot of families who, when they were kids, their parents took them and now they're bringing their own children to the event."

Gates opened to spectators at 6 p.m., but many arrived early to claim the best spots.
