2018 $1,000 Mint Julep honors The Best of Kentucky

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Now in its 13th year, the 2018 Cup pays tribute to Kentucky by offering a quintessential julep crafted by Master Distiller Chris Morris and Assistant Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall. This year's cup, recipe and experience is presented under the theme: The Best of Kentucky on Kentucky's Best Day.

Woodford Reserve, the Presenting Sponsor of the Kentucky Derby, has raised more than $450,000 for charities since the program began.

Proceeds from the 2018 cup sales will benefit The Jennifer Lawrence Foundation. The foundation was created in 2016 by Louisville native and actress Jennifer Lawrence to create more art, for more people, in more places.

15 "Bluegrass Cups" are available for purchase online for $1,000. The gold-plated "Commonwealth Cups" for $2,500 are sold out.

The Cups:
The $1,000 "Bluegrass Cup" features high polished sterling silver with plated 18 karat yellow gold. The $2,500 "Commonwealth Cup" is a sterling silver cup with a 24-karat heavy reliquary quality gold plating.

Each cup will be presented in a wooden box lined with silks like those worn by jockeys and buyers will have access to the Woodford Reserve $1,000 Mint Julep Experience and bar on Derby Day. Cup buyers will receive their handcrafted mint julep, while a Woodford Reserve photographer captures the occasion.
