LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Veterinarian Dr. Keith Latson is serving this year as the on-call vet for the Triple Crown.

He took over the role in 2015, after Dr. Larry Bramlage retired after 24 years or service.

Dr. Latson's job is to help the public and media understand any health problems or injuries suffered by an equine athlete competing in the Triple Crown. He can also assist in medical attention for the horses.

Dr. Latson is a California-based equine surgeon, and is part of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, which is based in Lexington, Kentucky.
